Five Things You Didnt Know about Freida Pinto

Opening Ceremony and "Moonrise Kingdom" Premiere - 65th Annual Cannes Film Festival

I am sure many of you remember Freida Pinto from her role in Slumdog Millionaire, which made a great many people stand at attention. A stunning actress, but with substantial depth and altruism hidden beneath that exterior. An Indian actress and model who is also an activist and huge supporter of human rights and women’s rights, there is much to Freida Pinto that you probably don’t know. Here are five things, just to get you started.

Part of the Agassi Foundation

For those who do not know, the Agassi foundation was started by tennis players Steffi Graff and Andre Agassi and aims to provide education to impoverished children worldwide. This but one of the many causes that Freida Pinto supports and helps raise awareness of and money for. She believes now that has “fame”, it should be used to help people and help make the world a better place. We cannot help but tip our hats to that.

Uses Her Twitter For Causes

69th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

While most celebrities out there use social media and Twitter to help them promote themselves, Fredia uses her more to inform her followers and the masses who may not know about issues that need more mass awareness (like female rights). Seems she provides a breath of fresh air among the throngs of celebrity who only want to talk about how great they are and then roll around in their money pits. Freida Pinto would rather use that money and fame to change the world in any way she can.

Is In Gorilla Video for Bruno Mars (and Got in Trouble For It)

Calvin Klein Collection Hosts Dinner to Celebrate The New Home of London's Design Museum

Whether or not you know it, Freida Pinto is the female in the Gorilla video. Though she treated it very much like a film (in other words, she was playing a role), she got into some heat with some people in her home country who thought it was a little bit too risque’. The saddest part is, people just need to relax. She took a role in a steamy video. Doesn’t the attention (and money) she bring to many causes more than make up for that in their eyes? Well it should.

Won Best Kiss From MTV (with Actual Boyfriend)

The 5th Annual Dubai International Film Festival - Portraits

She is actually in a serious relationship with her Slumdog Millionaire co-star, Dev Patel. The two won “Best Kiss” award from the MTV Movie Awards in 2008. Outside of moments like that, she is very guarded about her personal life and relationship, though. Again, she would rather bring up issues and problems facing the world then turn the lens on herself, which says much about her character.

You Will Never See Her Act With Dev Patel Again

An Alternative View - The 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival

Though her performance in Slumdog Millionaire opposite Dev Patel is what helped make her a household name, and helped her find the love of her life, do not expect them to attempt to repeat that anytime soon. She has said openly that she believes they would never be able to up their chemistry from that film (where they met and fell in love) and would not want to try and have it backfire. She would rather just live and love with her boyfriend in private instead of trying to recreate the magic that they were already lucky enough to capture once.
