Phil McGraw, also known as Dr. Phil, is an American television personality, author, psychologist, and actor. He has hosted the show Dr. Phil since 2002.

Phil is the son of Anne Geraldine “Jerry” (Stevens) and Joseph J. “Joe” McGraw, Jr. His great-grandfather was Irish. Much of the rest of his ancestry is English. He is married to Robin Jo Jameson, with whom he has two children, one of whom, Jay McGraw, is married to model Erica Dahm.

Phil’s paternal grandfather was Joseph/Joe Phillip/Philips McGraw, Sr. (the son of John William McGraw and Mary Esther Rice). Joseph was born in Texas. John was born in Clare, Ireland. Mary Esther was the daughter of Paschal/Pascal H. Rice and Martha Margaret H. Newby.
